During Astridevcon 2018 many people wanted a way to easily get the sound out of Asterisk during a call. The goal is to be able to send the data to an external service that would then add value to that call using speech to text, subtitles or anything that makes sense in your context. Since then, during a hackathon, we built an ARI resource that would enable developers to do just that. People in the assistance will learn how to get, build, install and use a custom ARI module that streams audio over a WebSocket. How to develop a Python program that will connect to the ARI and get the text version of that call using external tools. Other use cases that could be possible using that technology. And how to review and improve that module such that it could be submitted to Asterisk. Of course, a live demo would wrap it all up.
